nick carroll cutting back
we have the shot
Nov 10
It doesn't matter who is who on top of the board these days, they all want to rip off one of these dis-functional showboat spraytop finpopping back-sliding cutbacks.
I don't see anybody doing this manoeuve, even up here at Byron where the waves are so easy you can surf them with your eyes closed
This is Brent Asato, he has kindly submitted a snap of himself for criticism and review.
Brent is cutting back.
The first question we must ask of Mr Novak is why is he sitting down on the job? That's a fair bit of effort he has expended in getting up there and this is no time to bundy off.
Mr Jay Alders does not muck around with surfers' feet.
This is the Hawaiian way. Mr Garcia obviously had something else on his mind when he grabbed the big board this day, however that has not stopped him from a wholesome attack on this baby wave.
Ms Gilmore's face shows the strain of getting it back around and being a comp she probably hopes that the beerpigs in the judging tent aren't as sharp as they are paid to be.
Jim banks is a bit of a throwback, yet this manoeuvre is half way between Kanga, Rasta, and a plane crash.
Rumour has it that ed and his pals were responsible for policing the line-up over there on that American island from time to time, a little discouragement here and little suggestion there, nobody quite welcome - pity they missed the Japanese surprise visit in 1941.
Thank you indeed gus. The Pottz, as pictured, comes in the same catgory as The Archbold - in that he's possibly doing all this for the pic opportunity - it's not as if Hornbaker rolls up to your home break with his camera without being invited.
The kid has completely stuffed it, he's probably paddled out into the middle of a local comp that he wasn't invited to and decided to chuck a few heavy swathes.
Look at how it's all wrong here - Occy has grabbed the rail, he's buried his arse and he's dipped his hand. He's also not looking where he's going and the next move is almost impossible to predict.
we can commend the career pro boofhead (parko that is) for pulling off such a good move with a bare chest - doing it without a contest singlet - a step backward is a step forward if you know what we mean.
His trail though shows his great professionalism in that it demonstrates how he has translated a quick forehand turn midway up the face into a powerful arc back - Big man, lots of weight, easy wave, slackarse photographer - He could have done better, the snapper that is.
We must forget the nonsense about this fellow and engage the shot, and it is not good.
