Old friends ..

Those of us who like to walk beaches un-inhabited by all but sea birds, rejoice in the sight of this little fellow, especially when he allows us to approach before arching up into the winds . How they glide away, a flick of their wings and they’ve gone.

Sometimes you wonder if they remember you, like a crow does, as those black birds do your face, your walk, clothes – and here I’ve been wearing the same jeans and shirt for weeks.

These little fellows clump up and watch as you approach, then they twitch as you get closer, they know. Then they flee..

How they master the wind. These cheeky babies.

There is more to life than watching the local youth ripping up their local beach breaks, though some of them I know appreciate the company they keep, like this little fellow, now destined to be annihilated by the HDN1 virus.
