the ship’s log, will the camera turn?

The FreeRide Voice is a couple of things, this fellow is in it up to his forehead, S. Nug and J.Smith have already braved the residue, or the cream, of what is still a noisy group of individuals that was once known as the
mossy somethings mousey anarchists .. or something.
The best thing FreeRide is, is that they do a daily surf report. Daily, with pics. Daily with pics of a spot on the north coast, imagine.
Here’s a guy with a camera taking pics of his surf spot so we can all see how it is, wherever it is. Realsurf 1997 revisited. Everyone looking for the reporters then, reporters parked in, reporters windshields waxed up, lots of fuckery scrawled on their windscreens, paddle-ups in the surf, a couple of them and one of us.
So far every day the mystery man has reported the surf has been surf so bad I’d go out early, just to be alone. The day will however come when he will be tested, a swell with a little nneast, meaty.
My bet is he’ll take the day off of or shoot elsewhere a lot later in the day, because he won’t dare swing the lens to the right from his current early spot.
$50 Steve, you on?

North Coast?
You’ve lost your marbles Pete, she’s a generic beach somewhere, anywhere just so the honest farmers in the hills don’t have to waste petrol driving to the beach. It might even be Bells Beach this next two weeks.
There’ll be no spots named, ever. Just a continuing natural history dialogue with an undistinguished open beach.

Yes, I note an under call by about 4 feet on the 16th. 4 feet?
Still my weekend proved that the big blue is a tricky mistress.
It could be worse…
Indeed it may be a bit of Avalon 1990 redux for Larry but the NC is not the peninsula yet – thankfully
