the priest

I started to write a book over thirty years ago. Nothing epic. More like cathartic.
A long while ago.
I stopped working on it, again, over a year ago … went cold. But writing is like gambling and gambling is about knowing the difference between hot and cold.
Like the priest who gambled in the Las Vegas casinos … gambled heavily, mostly at roulette.
He would go into the casino building every day, mid morning, fully garbed, walk through the lobby and up to the open portal that led into the gambling tables, stop, take a few slow breaths and wait for the feeling that told him whether to stay or to go.
When he stayed, he won.
This is for you Shank, put it together.

I heard today, idle hands are the Devils work. I took it personal.
