a road to cross

she was standing to my right by the side of the road

– already on the road when we stepped forward, on the light

there must have been others, we had the sun over us

close on my left now, halfway over, and she turned to me, that dark hair

that smile.

we looked at each other. into each other.

– and she turned away, off on some work, her work.

I moved up and bumped her, soft, on her elbow
