no farewelling

dark city

Exit.

He slides his thin socks over the unclean so whitened feet

Then his worn shoes

His grimy trousers, threaded with string

Hung off him.

Stiff

Then a smeared jacket

Over a shirt with two buttons

A glance at the mirror showed washaway eyes

No watch for the telling

No ring, no faith, no compromising lies

All love gone

so

No farewelling

You coined ‘farewelling’ and ‘washaway’? I’ve put the former in my box of stolen words.
