The kids were within easy grasping distance of the shoreside rocks. The water was only knee deep. The ‘rescuer’ raced down the sand, fully clothed (boots on) and plunged into the shallow water when he could have helped them without the drama by walking out to the shallow sandbank that abuts these rocks at low tide. A sandbank we use regularly to wade from Lighthouse to Shelly Beach. As was the day.
The mothers had no view of their children as they were reclining against a rock wall and busy with their phones, a man, presumably their father was walking away from the kids, again on his phone.
The police were called. And the Press. We have little doubt by who.
