the old couple living next door

They are both in their nineties and it’s rare to see them these days with the pandemic about, though we’ve figured a way around that as every time we go down to the Ballina fish co-op we buy a couple of dozen Sydney rock oysters. It takes a while for John or Rosemary Beeman to get to the front door of their apartment when the buzzer goes, but there’s no hiding their delight when they see what’s waiting for them.
Both the Beemans are artists. They paint every day, John all day. He says and I quote,” I’ll probably be cremated with a paint brush in my hand.”
John was born in 1926 in Manly, so he knows a thing or two about the sea but nothing at all about surfing. Believe me, I’ve tested him and he’s lacking in that respect, but that hasn’t stopped him.
He’s just finished a series of paintings about the noble pursuit and I though you might like to see what the old fellow is capable of.
Then there’s the one on my wall, for the oysters.
His work is available here ..
For someone who claims to know nothing about surf 🏄♂️ he has done a fine job of surf art in my humble opinion 👏
Cheers from Wally the Walker 🙂
Not so humble, Wally old son, and old John has got a feeling for bellowing caverns, you reckon?
I’d say he knows more than a thing about the sea and he sure has a feeling for the surf. Beautiful paintings Mr Beeman!
This may seem a strange request, but I was wondering if there was any chance you spent your younger years growing up in Langwarrin, Victoria??????? If so I would love to connect with you as we were neighbours back then. Lisa Yeates, ne Crichton
No Lisa, not me. Why do you ask?
