I’m in a hotel room …

Watching TV on a MASSIVE Samsung Smart TV, its black presence haunting the room when not in use, and of course the set is placed immediately in front of the picture window.

This particular unit has a voice-over co-ordinated with every function you wish to pursue whilst viewing. You want more volume? Less? There are 75 volume upgrade choices and each flick up or down produces a disembodied female voice that tells you exactly what each is defined as. From soft to deafening. One by one. One flick at a time. No shortcuts.

Same with the three hundred and forty five available channel changes, same with watching a movie – you flick out when an ad intrudes and the voice reminds you of how much un-viewed movie is left.

Somebody says the reason for this helpful AI voice technology is to assist those viewing who are sight- impaired.

So how does hearing going to help them?
